Experience is king. It can be obtained by first taking several practical and theoretical courses, providing for a very solid basis.
However, at C-MASTERS we also offer a more playful approach to learning and building up experience ...
For this Experience Builder we sail north, north-east … Yes indeed, this is another opportunity for aspirant coastal skippers and yachtmasters to build up experience. Every day will be different with a mix of different situations and sailing areas !
Our destination is Denmark with its impressive coasts and its capital city Copenhagen, home to the world most famous mermaid. This Experience Builder will start in the south of the Netherlands on 3 June. The arrival at a marina in the Copenhagen area is foreseen on 9 June.
This is a one-way trip of approximately 500 NM, which means that we’ll also have to add some nightsailing to your sailing experience ! (allthough the nights are short in June …).
You will be sailing a fantastic Hallberg Rassy 48 ft. This Scandinavia build 15 meter yacht is just perfect for this offshore passage, offering performance in combination with ample comfort and safety.
The route of this experience builder
Your route on board of this Hallberg Rassy 48 will start at the port of Vlissingen in the Netherlands (Zeeland). From here we go non-stop to the North of the Netherlands.
Planning this route is a good exercise: navigating the sandbanks at the coastal area of Zeeland, calculating the time for a favourable tide when we pass the busy traffic lanes near Rotterdam. And what about the height of tide at the Wadden Islands, and which island will we choose for our first stop ? As you see, this is a perfect opportunity to practice your planning and navigation skills when sailing the North Sea. Next passage planning is the route to the German Bight, with fast running tides on the Elbe river and near Cuxhaven, our next stop where we’ll prepare for the Kieler Canal.
After passing through the canal with its large locks and ships, we will be in the Oostsee, ready to go north up. These are really different waters, different weather patterns, long long daylight … and do not forget, different gastronomical culture ( yes we do also have to stop and eat from time to time ).
Rounding the south coast of Denmark will be completely new for most of our crew. Ever heard of Gedser or Klinthom Haven? Plenty of options to add to our itinary. What about taking a look at the famous Mons Klint? This rocks formation is a must see.
From here, we continue direction Copenhagen. Although your trip ends here, you might consider staying a few extra days ashore to visit this attractive city. Make sure not to miss Nyhavn, the cute 17th century district and its colourful harbour with traditional vessels.
This Experience Builder is guaranteed to boost your skills and confidence.

The combination of my RYA training course and this sailing trip was ideal.
It was an excellent opportunity to make lots of miles and explore a new sailing area. I highly recommend your Experience Builders.
I can't wait to join you for the next adventure.
